Discover how much one grape can express. Explore Chardonnay with me through my method of tasting using color theory.
A ripe apple note might make you think golden yellow. Use that color as a sensory reference: could you also notice pear, pineapple, honey, or something else? Follow the connections your memory suggests, then return to the glass to discover which clues agree.
This is the heart of my approach: notice a sensation, connect it to a color, and use that color to explore the wine further. We’ll also pay attention to texture, whether the wine feels crisp, rounded, or creamy, and consider how those sensations fit together.
Using your interactive journal, you’ll practice finding words for what you sense, exploring possible winemaking influences, and recording the connections you want to remember.
